Is your home uncomfortably warm, making you run your air conditioning all day long? The heat your windows allow in may be a major factor. To help cool your home without ticking up the numbers on your energy bill, try solar screens. These Textilene® Solar Screens are designed to block the heat of the sun, cooling your home up to 15 degrees. This fabric is made of strong and durably constructed vinyl-coated polyester yarns. Textilene® is pet resistant and has UV inhibitors that keep it from fading or rotting. These custom solar screens use heavy duty aluminum screen frames in .024 gauge, which is heavier than a standard window screen frame. Installing solar screens in your home could even reduce your energy bill up to 30%!
Our custom Textilene® 90% solar screens are ideal for rooms that need to be kept dark. These options block out approximately 90% of the sun’s heat and don’t allow much natural sunlight to enter the room. Install these in bedrooms for daytime sleepers, in media rooms, and other areas of your home that tend to overheat to keep them cool and comfortable. The 90% solar screens come in black, brown, beige, black/brown, grey, desert sand, and white.
If you’d prefer a bit more sunlight in other rooms of your home, choose the Textilene® 80% solar screens. These will also cool your home just as efficiently as the 90% but allow for a bit more light for living rooms, kitchens, garages, and more. House plants will still be able to receive enough light with these custom solar screens. They’re available in the same seven screen colors.
We also feature half circle options for unique windows in both Textilene® 80% and 90% options. You can customize the dimensions, screen color, and frame color for these to easily install in front door windows, as well as living rooms, bathrooms, and other areas of your home with half circle windows. You may choose from frame colors in white, bronze, silver, tan, and champagne.

Solar screens really do work to reduce heat which comes into your home via windows. While they block the heat and harmful UV rays, they also help cut costs of air conditioning, protect your interior and furniture from sun damage and even provide extra privacy for windows.
What are the best solar screens? The best solar screen for you will depend entirely on what is important for you and where your home is located. Do you wish to cool your home and reduce electric energy costs as the main goal? Do you want to block heat while also being able to see outward and having some natural light? Is daytime privacy the most important concern for you? Or do you want the ultimate heat blocked even if your home turns out to be darker inside than expected?
The most common, most recommended, and highly rated solar screens are the 80% solar screens. They cool the home as much as needed in average climates while letting in natural light and still allowing you to look through them.
If privacy, maximized heat blockage, and lack of light do not concern you then the best solar screen for you would be 90% solar screens. They have the ultimate in blocking heat from windows but will make your home darker and restrict visibility outward, yet perfect for daytime privacy.
Which is better solar screens or window tinting?Solar screens are a better choice. When it comes to efficiency, they are the most effective in reducing heat transfer than window tint and, solar screens will work whether your windows are open or not. With a window tint, the glass itself is tinted, and so if you open your window you will most likely have an area where sunlight streams in with nothing to block the heat and UV rays.
